Consistent Writing Routine
Blogging really is about creating content. Content that resonates with your audience, solves a problem or gives entertainment. And to do that you need to do it consistently. For most blogger out there, writing has to do a lot with blogging. To achieve this consistently, it is essential to establish a writing schedule. Dedicate specific times in your day to writing by setting appointments in your calendar and sticking to them.
Designating a specific times is important, even if sometimes the has to be early in the morning before anyone wakes ups or late, when everyone is sleep.
Create specific goals for content creation
Some experience bloggers say it is necessary to at least write 2 to 3 post a week to have your audience engage with your content. This could be a nice goal to have as you are creating your habit. However, you have to be efficient with the little time you have. A way to achieve that is to have very specific content creating goals. Try creating a dashboard with things that you need to do with each post, and a visual system that shows progress. This will help you see your result and give you the sense of accomplishment.
Effective Time Management
Time management is a habit required in all job descriptions. Doing it effectively will be key to blog successfully. Prioritize tasks that contribute to growth and engagement. Delegate tasks like web design or proofreading if they are not your expertise. Utilize time management apps and create a content calendar to plan posts in advance and meet deadlines successfully.
By Creating a content calendar you could plan launch for specific occasions like easter, thanksgiving, Christmas or New years. A good content calendar will be key in time management as it breaks down tasks into smaller, manageable chunks and sets deadlines for each content piece.
Continuous Learning and Improvement
Blogging is constantly changing, and the only way you can continue to be successful is to stay informed on industry trends and developments. There are key activities for bloggers to stay ahead of the curve:
- Follow industry Leaders: Subscribe to Newsletters or review most influential bloggers from your niche.
- Set up google alerts form key websites or relevant keywords to get notifications timely.
- Join online Communities
- Monitor Social Media Trends
- Ask Feedback from your readers or fellow bloggers to improve content quality.
In addition to these activities, investing in personal and career development is essential. As a blogger, your profession requires continuous learning and growth. Focus on mastering skills such as writing, SEO knowledge, Pinterest and Instagrams marketing and other abilities vital for success in the blogging industry. By prioritizing these aspects, you can enhance your knowledge and maintain a competitive edge in the dynamic world of blogging.
Be Authentic in Engagement
Have you ever read the phrase, “Fake it until you make it”. My advice is that you Don’t. Be honest with your audience. Be authentic and realistic about your content. Stay true to your voice and message. They will know. Once, I read that blogging was a very personal endeavor, and it is. To be able to connect, consider the following tips:
- Share your story: Be open and honest about your personal experiences, challenges, and successes. Authenticity often stems from sharing your unique journey with your audience.
- Express your Opinions: Don’t shy away from expressing your opinions on relevant topics. Your viewpoint can resonate with readers and foster meaningful discussions. Show your personality. Letting your true self shine through will help you connect with your audience on a deeper level.
- Be Transparent: Honesty and transparency build trust with your audience. Disclose sponsored content, collaborations, and any potential conflicts of interest to maintain credibility.
- Engage with your Audience: Respond to comments, messages, and feedback from your readers. Show genuine interest in their thoughts and incorporate their input into your content when relevant.
- Stay True to your values: Align your content with your values and beliefs. Consistency advocating for what you stand for will create a strong community, even if it is digital.
- Share Behind the Scenes: Offer a glimpse into your creative process, the work that goes into your content, or the day-to-day aspects of your life. This transparency adds depth to your relationship with your audience.
- Admit Mistakes and Learn from Them: If you share your successes also share your mistakes. Your audience is growing with you, show them how you were able to improve. This will portray humility and honesty. Be vulnerable.
- Avoid over Promotion: While partnerships and promotions are essential, strive for a balance between promotional content vs valuable, authentic material that resonates with your audience.
Resilience and Persistence
You can be successful at your first try. Yes you can. But, you can also fail. And it will be hard to get where you want to be with your blog. There is a story in Atomic Habit, by James Clear, that really resonated with me. About the study conducted to photography students in a University. Half of the room was graded with an A by turning the perfect photography and the other half by turning a lot of photographies. The best results came from the second group, because you learn by repetition. The best way to learn is from mistakes. You don’t learn by being perfect, and reading and complying with every article you read. Don’t stress when things don’t go as planned. Stop and learn and do it again.
Like everything in life, you will have slow periods of growth. In those times, don’t quit. Make sure to create your system based on the habits that we talked above and trust the process. Publish at least 3 times a week. Work the SEO and stay updated about the changes. Take at least one course a year about blogging. Revise your grammar. Update the pictures. Give your audience the right tools to solve their problems. Work your Pinterest account. Work your Instagram account. Eventually, you will get there. Celebrate small wins and be patient in slow periods.
